Tuji - Crossing
On the crossing, forty years ago, our father met a nomadic family of a few members. They nodded to him without a word and quickly left, heading north with silent steps.
Is it possible for us to pass our message to these legendary people ?

Yamagami - Top of the mountain
A few minute's walk from the crossing to the west brings us to the top of the mountain called Yamagami. We have a whole view of the Lake Hamana on the way. At the peak, there is a wild peach tree that indicates the border of the land. The place is dark even in the daytime because the deciduous trees are so thick and the ground is covered by dead pines and overgrown weeds. No one has visited there for a long time.
The site is sourrounded by driftedwoods collected from the coast. Then, between the pieces of driftedwoods, soil mixed with straws is plastered.

Yamada - Paddy fields in the mountain
Walking from [Yamagami] to the north. The path which was originaly for fire prevention , take us to the paddy fields in the mountain. Paddy fields located of the mountain is called Yamada, and one near the lake is called Okida.
Yamada in owned by my family was build by my great-grandfather about one hundred years ago. He cultivated on the side of the mountain and made a five-terraced field, carrying fertile soil with a pack-basket from his Okida , enough soil to cover them all. After that, the fieldes, which had been unattended for more 30 years, the cultivated paddy changed into a wasteland covered by thick forest again.
In the summer, there are many poisonous insects and snakes, so I will take a break from work. And in the fall, we will resume our activities, but we can see that our precious efforts have faded. Then in the fall we will start in again, only to find that our precious efforts have been weathered.

Takeyabu – A bamboo grove
We eat bamboo shoots from the grove of moso bamboos behind of my house. The place is always calm and quiet when we go into the grove.
